Just some quick pic's of Mom and I's little work studio. As you can see we have it packed!!
We had a great time at the Mollie McGee show. We sold 15-16 pots, but it was not bad for a first time. We learned more than I can tell you. There was a wonderful lady Aggie who had been doing the show for about 20 years right next to us, and I'm not sure she could of been any more helpful. We are on the waiting list for the October and November shows. Hopefully we will hear something soon as to if we will get into these shows or not.
We are still selling pots here and there, so it's good. I think that our biggest worry is that we will stop selling pots and will not be able to paint anymore. :( We are working on a couple of new and crazy ideas. Will post about those hopefully soon. Life has settled down a little bit, so hopefully I will be able to post a little more regularly.

Scattered thoughts for the day.

I haven't posted for a little while, have been really busy getting ready for the Mollie McGee Show in April. We did a head count and we are up to 90 pots ready for the show. There are about 10 more in various states of finish and about 50 more sealed and ready to be started. Our goal is to get 150 to 200 pots ready by the last weekend in April!! Wow we have a lot of work.

I read about the economy and realize that my mom and I are quite lucky where we are at right now. We are able to do this for love, and make enough money to pay for our hobby. I worry about some of the wonderful people of Etsy, and other artists who have up until now been able to live selling their art, but now with people tightening their belts, it seems to be the first thing to go out of peoples life. If you can, purchase a small piece to brighten your day!! Check out the cool $20 art prints from MattsArt, http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=12256311.

The other thing that people seem to forget about in this time, is donating to a good cause. This is when it is needed most. Time to go through your closets and look for some extra stuff to take to Goodwill or the Arc. What about donating blood?? This does not cost a thing, but can help soooo much. Take a minute to think about what you can do to get involved and help out. Remember Karma is a wonderful thing. OK I'm off the soapbox now. Be back again soon with more updates and pics.

Waiting for the sun

Please check out this and the other wonderful birdbaths and glass work that Glorious Glass Garden at Etsy features in her shop.

I had to post this orange glass birdbath because it reminds me of the things that we are missing right now in Colorado. The sun and some warmth!!

Mom and I have about 20 pots finished but waiting to be spray sealed, and about 40 more that need to have the terra cotta sealed on them. The spray smells horrible, so we spray outside. Problem, it really needs to be 50* or warmer to work well. We keep looking outside and waiting.... We could have Dad set us up a spray booth, but I think that we both like the idea of having to go outside and letting the pots cure in the sun for a while.

Hope everyone has a great day and is inspired to create something beautiful, art, poetry, or a smile on a friends face. Kacey & Connie

Happy Valentines Day

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentines Day, and take a minute to recognize some of the people that The Happy Pots love.

Dad: We love the fact that you have been so suportive, bringing home magazines full of flowers, and have given up a portion of the basement to us.
Dan: We love the fact that you don't get too jealous of the time that we spend painting, that you get excited when we get accepted to a craft show, and the fact that you love our pots enough to give them to your parents.
Erica: For just being you!!
Justin & Janelle: For all your support and love of our pots, the offer of help for our website with how crazy your world is.
Cali-Jo: For being here so that we can love, smile, cry and never loose sight of what is really important.
The Boys: For not thinking that Kacey and Nana are crazy and coming down and painting with us from time to time.
And Everyone that has bought a Happy Pot, who loves them and encourages us to paint more.

In the beginning...there were stamps??

I've had more than a couple of people ask us how did we come up with the idea of painting pots, so I thought that I would give the background on how Happy Pots started.

I took a card making class with stamps, and got a Stamp it Up book to take home. I looked through it and saw a beautiful pot with a sign (Card) hanging on it, and thought "What a cool idea". I showed my mom and said that we needed to do this. She was quite apprehensive at first, but supportive and told me to go cost it out.

We took the plunge. I purchase a hugh lot of stamps off of Ebay to help get us started and we painted a couple of pots to see what we thought. (The first pots are a source of amusement to us now.) It was a lot of fun....

I told a wonderful person, Lois, at work about what we were doing and she told me that she would be interested to see our pots, but did not want the tags or pre-planted, she had more than enough plants right now.... This is how the pot business started. We brought a couple of pots in, and they were a hit. The response was "we like the pots, but really don't care about the other stuff." We started getting more creative with the pots, and the more my work place bought them. They were buying a huge percentage of what we were able to paint, and encouraging us to paint more.

We are about 1 year in at this time, and just got accepted to the Mollie McGee show in Longmont. We are looking at the wall of pots and know that we need to keep painting.

Hope that you enjoyed the backround, and how this all started... not quite like we planned. :)

Figuring out the blog thing.

Looking forward to getting this blog up and running. Will be posting pic's of Mom and I, our crazy little work area, more of our pots, and just some great stuff about us and our life. Bear with us, I'm new at this, but looking forward making this a great little blog.
